Oklahoma Bill to Tax Violent Video Games

The ironically named “William Fourkiller” (pictured) has introduced a new bill (HB 2696) to specifically tax “violent” video games.  The revenue from this new tax would go to combating obesity and bullying.

This has to be one of the stupidest bills I’ve seen in quite some time. It makes a number of really bad assumptions. First of all, it assumes that “violent” video games are harmful. Secondly, it assumes that throwing more tax dollars at the obesity problem is going to have any impact.  There is no good evidence that either one of these things is true. If you live in Oklahoma tell whoever represents your area that FourKiller-Willy is an idiot.  Even his name looks like something you would see on a counterstrike server.

    Bahaha it is true!

I agree, we should tax violent video games, along with supporting the National Rifle Association! It makes sense! >.<
